Method

Every day a script reads public product pages of the shops (structured data: price, weight, availability). Products are classified by type (dark, milk, white), format (bars and tablets, or bulk packs ≥ 1 kg such as couverture and callets) and Belgian origin. Gift sets, figures, pralines and other confectionery are left out of bars. Each shop counts once: the index is the median of the shops' own median €/kg per group. Products without a weight are excluded. Full rules: editorial policy.
