Chocolate Price Index — Poland & Germany

How prices are collected

Once a day we read public product pages of independent online shops in Poland and Germany (no marketplaces). We use the structured data the shops publish themselves: price, currency, package weight and availability. PLN prices are converted to euros at the European Central Bank reference rate of the same day.

How the index is calculated

Products are grouped by country, type (dark, milk, white) and format (bars and tablets, or bulk packs of 1 kg and more). For each group we first take each shop's median price per kilogram, then publish the median across shops, so one large shop cannot dominate. Gift sets, figures, pralines, biscuits and other confectionery are not counted as bars, and bars must weigh 40–500 g. Products without a known weight are left out. A group is published only when at least 3 shops contribute to it. Official series come from Eurostat (HICP and producer price indices); cocoa futures are shown as a percentage change only.

Sponsorship

A shop may pay for one clearly marked partner card on the index page. Sponsored cards are always labelled “Partner slot” or “Sponsored”, and their links carry rel="sponsored".

What a sponsor cannot do

A sponsor cannot change, remove or delay any number, cannot change the order of any table, cannot be added to or removed from the list of monitored shops in exchange for payment, and cannot review the page before publication. Data and the sponsor block are produced separately.

Corrections

If a number looks wrong, write to us through the partner / contact form. Confirmed errors are corrected in the next daily update.
